Could There Be a Front-Wheel BMW in the Future?

BMW is famous for what they call "The Ultimate Driving Machine."1 Actually, they'll tell you this is the only kind of vehicle they make - a delicate balance between power, efficiency, and enviable driving dynamics. Part of this is the standard rear-wheel drive platform on all of their models, including the flagship 7 Series and crossover models like the BMW X5.

So then, you'll know why the team here at Kuni BMW is scratching our heads at the latest rumors we've heard about the new 1 Series. More specifically, we're wondering why AutoCar has reported that a front-wheel drive 1 Series GT will be making its debut this fall at the Paris Motor Show.

Though the Bavarian automaker has yet to confirm or deny these rumors, that doesn't mean we're not just a little confused by these rumors. After all, part of the fun in driving a BMW is knowing that you're behind the wheel of a car that has been designed with the ultimate in performance in mind. That means a finely tuned chassis, powerful engine, and of course - what's a sports car if it's not rear-wheel drive?

Again, these are just rumors. So, come September, we might find out that we're getting all worked up about nothing. And, we suppose, if the 1 Series GT is front-wheel drive, that wouldn't be so bad. Who knows - we might even love it.

That said, be sure to stay tuned with Kuni BMW for more BMW news and updates!

Or, experience the ultimate in driving right here in Beaverton, OR. Our showroom is located at 10999 SW Canyon Rd, and a member of our team is always happy to answer your questions in person and arrange a test drive of any of the new BMW models that catch your eye.
